Investor in People
Investors In People is a national quality standard which sets a level of good practice for improving an organisation's performance through its people. An Investor in People is fully committed to developing its people in order to achieve its aims and objectives.

With over 120 individuals working in the company, and in a fickle and fast moving industry, we've placed great importance on employing the best people, helping them understand the company's mission, ethos, culture and values to create a working environment nobody would ever want to leave!

After 2 years of experimenting, listening, learning and adjusting accordingly, CU was successfully assessed for Investors in People in October 2000. We're very proud of our journey towards and attainment of Investors in People recognition. And while we acknowledge that having created new and workable systems that allow greater freedom for individuals to achieve is a great start, maintaining their credibility will be the lasting legacy from which the workforce will benefit.

Sales
In the competitive and fast tracked world of Sales, an inspired and pro-active team of sales specialists is required to build new customer relationships and nurture existing ones. Our Internal Sales team works collaboratively and independently to achieve team and individual targets. Each individual concentrates on a geographical account range or a selection of products and can be relied upon to give concise, accurate and true information on their specialist area of expertise. The ideal person for a job in sales will be energetic, enthusiastic, able to work as part of a tight, well disciplined team and able to work well under pressure.

360 Marketing
Our creative team - 360 Marketing - can handle all aspects of the marketing mix. Projects tackled by our in-house marketing agency include; web design, direct mail, database cleaning, copywriting, PR, advertising design and media buying. This team requires lively, ebullient and dedicated individuals.

Business Development
Everything we sell has a Product Management team dedicated to ensuring its success. This department is key to giving our business partners value and ensuring our customers have sufficient knowledge and information to sell onto their customers. Business Managers lead the teams, strategise for the future and, with our business partners, plan future goals and methods of attaining them. Product Managers and Product Consultants are truly hands-on, demanding roles, which require outgoing individuals who will be quick to learn products and their upgrades, present the products to dealers and have no fear of traveling the length and breadth of the country in pursuit of encouraging sales!

Finance
Our finance teams consist of Credit Control and Accounts. Credit Control requires friendly but persistent individuals - the successful collection of debt is often characterised by the gentle approach used to recover money owed to us. Credit Control requires tactful and discreet individuals who, to a certain extent, have the ability to look ahead and plan their own workload.

The Accounts team works diligently towards the sound conclusion of other accounting sectors including, Purchase Ledger, Payroll, Vendor Ledger and Accounts. This steady and capable team ensure that all accounting practices are stable and ethical.

Human Resources
HR consists of a small team of individuals who, amongst other things, are concerned with recruitment, induction and the training and development of individuals at CU. The team ensures that Managers follow procedures to allow equal opportunities for all employees and monitors the maintenance of the Investors in People standard. Discreet, trustworthy and highly confidential individuals make up this team.

Office Management
The Office Management team is a steady and reliable force, concerned with all aspects of the day to day running of the office, from procuring company cars and maintaining them to ordering stationery and maintaining alarm systems. Organised and methodical individuals are a principle requirement for this team.

Operations
The Technical Services team consists of internal and external support specialists. The internal team manage, update and maintain the internal systems, including computers and telephones. The external support team offers product support for customers on the telephone. Highly skilled and technically minded individuals are required, in order to fit in with this team.

The Purchasing department is a tight-knit team who are responsible for ordering products and supervising stock levels to maximise sales potential. The team consists of lively and professional individuals, who can converse with external people at all levels on a daily basis.

Physical strength and common sense are two key factors needed in any warehouse. The Warehouse team at CU is a large team of individuals who possess these qualities, as well as an abundance of team spirit and dedication. Responsible for shipping the thousands of orders that come through the company, the individuals in this team are also required to use computers as an every day part of their job.
